Symbian Belle, the next version of Symbian was announced on 24 August 2011. Symbian Belle is also an update built on Symbian^3 OS like Symbian Anna but a step ahead.

Changes made in new Symbian Belle are:

Doubling of the number of home screens - The new Belle offers six home screens and the previous siblings of Symbian have 3 home screens only. 

Introduction of flexible home screen widgets – Widgets have been redesigned and are now available in five different sizes. Widgets can be rearranged to create complete personalized home screen. 

New and improved status/notification bar – The Belle has taken a neat approach to notifications through – a pull down notification tab that incorporates common setting, notification for incoming messages, missed calls, etc.

Toggle Widget – It has introduced a toggle widget for one touch operation of Bluetooth, profile, Wi-Fi, etc. 

Active and informative lock screen – Your lock screen is now active. It will tell about missed calls, incoming message, etc. Colored wallpaper can also be added to lock screen.

NFC capabilities – Near Field Communication (NFC) is integrated in the operating system.

Dynamic real-time multitasking 

New Apps: Belle incorporates new apps such as Microsoft Lync – an IM for business, SharePoint, OneNote, Exchange ActiveSync, and PowerPoint Broadcaster. 

Making debut with - Nokia 600, Nokia 700, and Nokia 701.

Now you can send only 100 SMS a day – TRAI

The unlimited SMS packs have been smashed down with the new move of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Despite of continuous opposition from the telecom operators, TRAI is firm at its decision to restrict SMS to 100 per day per SIM for all subscribers. TRAI has come at this decision to curb the menace of pesky SMSs such as promotional and advertising messages. However, this restriction will not be valid on the festive days.

The schedule of sending not more than 100 SMS a day will come into effect from 27^th of September, 2011. According to TRAI the effectiveness of this move will impede telemarketers from annoying subscribers with spam calls and SMS. 

Before this move, TRAI announced Per Day Per SIM (PPDS) rule. This rule asked the telecom operators to withdraw SMS service packs that allow service providers to send more than 100 SMS a day. 

In reaction of the move of TRAI, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) urged the telecom regulator to reconsider its decision saying that the move of not allowing subscribers to send more than 100 SMS a day is against the fundamental right. 

Impact:

By limiting the numbers of SMS that can be send per day per SIM, the TRAI has created discontent among the youth. Young cell phone users are highly reliable on SMS packs for communication instead of costly calls. They extensively use the messaging services to communicate with friends.

Not to wonder, I was the poor owner of Nokia 2626 at that time and was in Graduation 2^nd year. I thought the girl would go to school or a school trip. But case was entirely different from the thoughts that was lingering in my silly mind. In the mean time, I realized that a lady is accompanying with her. That lady was trying to convince her to get back to home but the girl was arguing bitterly. I started having interest in the affair. A metro feeder bus came, but I ignored despite knowing that I will get late to office (I was doing internship project in a public relation firm). After sometime, that lady came to me and whole picture get cleared to me. That lady was her maid. 

I got to know that her parents had gone to a business trip to Gujarat for one week and the girl was planning to elope with her boyfriend, who was in 9^th standard. I was shocked to know the case. The whole plan was fabricated on the bloody cell phone. I cannot blame the parents for leaving their girl alone as other members were at home. But I will surely blame them for giving a cell phone to their 8^th class kid.

I was staying in a private hostel. 11^th class girl was staying in just another room. The girl was good at her study. She did well in her first term exam.
